Day by day itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Salina – Welcome meeting

Sicily is famous for good food, especially street food. After the arrival in Catania airport our recommendation is to start the journey with an arancino. There are always some available at the bar there.

A driver will wait for you to go to Milazzo port, where you will catch a hydrofoil for the green island, Salina. Once arrived, a taxi will take you to the hotel. In the afternoon, time to relax.

Day 2 - Private boat tour and lunch with “Pane Cunzato”

After breakfast you will discover the island by boat. For lunch you’ll taste one of the most famous dishes of the Aeolian Island, the “pane cunzato”. In the past poor people used to eat old/spoiled bread, with the vegetables from their garden, and today that’s the base of the actual recipe (with fresh bread possibly).

When you’ve finished lunch, you will taste five surprisingly good granitas. We hope you are not on a diet.

Day 3 - Foraging and Malvasia Tasting

In the morning, after a generous breakfast, a guide will lead you in one of the most beautiful paths of the Island for a foraging lesson. You will reach the house of Francesca for a sweet tasting of cakes and jams, all produced with local fruits. You will learn the secret ingredients of local desserts.

In the afternoon you have the opportunity to taste three different types of Malvasia, the most important sweet wine produced in the Aeolian Islands, combined with local snacks. In the late afternoon you can come back to the hotel.

Day 4 - Private boat tour to Filicudi & Alicudi

Today you leave Salina for eight hours and you will go to Filicudi and Alicudi with an exclusive boat. We hope you meet some dolphins during the journey.

Day 5 - Pollara and Capers tasting

For today morning we suggest you walk around the town and find the beautiful places of the village. After that, you will go to Pollara. First stop must be at Belvedere to see the rests of a majestic volcano, partially collapsed. As evidence of its existence you can see the Faraglione, a stone cliff in the middle of the sea which preserves the millenary secrets of the crater.

Here in Pollara you will also visit one of the most popular producers of capers, with a tasting, and if the period is good you can also participate in the picking process.  From this small center you can admire one of the most incredible sunsets of your life. The sky will paint itself of one thousand shades of red and in the background there are Filicudi and Alicudi.

Day 6 - Trekking with a Guide – Tasting of agrobiological products

This morning you will climb up Monte Fossa delle Felci, the highest mountain of the Archipelago. Once reached the peak, a wonderful landscape appears on the horizon: Sicilian coasts dominated by Etna, and the islands of Alicudi, Filicudi, Stromboli, Panarea, Lipari, and Vulcano.

Here the vegetation is various and is composed by heather bushes, chestnut forests, oaks, pines, and broom shrubs, in the spring period, colouring the landscape with classic yellow flowers. If you want to know the reason for the mountain name, walk till the crater!

For you to relax, it will follow a food and wine tasting in an agrobiological local estate.

Day 7 - Cooking Class & Lunch

Today we propose a cooking class. You will cook three different recipes of the tradition, but before the lesson you will go in the garden to choose what to eat. The proposal will be different for every season.

Day 8 - Excursion at Vulcano – Wine tasting

After breakfast, a driver will lead you to the port of Santa Marina, where you will depart for the island of Vulcano by hydrofoil. This day will be colourful and sensational. You will see the black sand, the yellow Sulphur and taste the local cheese.

There is one more peculiarity in Vulcano, that’s to say that there is a producer of Ciliegiolo, most singular in the whole archipelago and still rare to find until you reach the North of Italy.

Day 9 - Pic-nic in a vineyard

Today it would be a very special day, depending on the period you are coming here. If the moment is right you will participate in the harvest of the wine grapes, or else you will go for a walk in the vineyards with an agronomist, or a wine producer.

Lunch will be a pic-nic so you will maximize your experience time.

Day 10 - Last Morning – Transfer to Catania Airport

This is the end line of your stay. You will have breakfast and then go for a transfer to Santa Marina.
